My Practice

I work with adults seeking help for various reasons. Often, my clients are feeling overwhelmed and alone within major life transitions or complex grief experiences. Some struggle with distressing thoughts or moods, while many find themselves frustrated by a "rinse and repeat" cycle of old behavioral patterns — including how they show up in relationships, advocate for their needs, and set boundaries. More and more, people are also reaching out because they feel untethered by a world in crisis and long for meaning, direction, and a trustworthy compass.

A Trauma-Informed Perspective

Big picture, as a trauma-informed therapist, I believe that many (though not all) of what have traditionally been labeled symptoms or disorders are actually strategies for coping with hard, sometimes terrible, things. When considered within the context of all that has happened to a person, these ways of coping make sense; they deserve our understanding and respect.
This nonpathologizing stance allows us to nurture a more compassionate relationship with ourselves and to connect with our innate capacity for healing. From this grounded place, we can develop new tools and approaches that better suit our current circumstances, allowing us to more consistently make choices based upon our needs and core values.

Our Collaboration

I know my clients to be resilient, resourceful, and creative, and my approach to therapy is collaborative. Together, we will draw from the wisdom of your lived experience and my training in a range of psychotherapy models to tailor our sessions to your unique needs and preferences.
  • Some clients appreciate a direct approach and are eager for tangible information and new skills.
  • Others look for a supportive space to process their experiences aloud to gain clarity and self-understanding.
  • Many wish to engage in parts work to gently move toward addressing deeper trauma wounds.
Frequently, a dynamic combination of these approaches ends up being the best fit. I am always curious to learn about what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past and what you feel you need right now, and I will always be transparent with you about how my practice aligns with your goals.
